Snoop Dogg Drops First Metaverse Filmed Music Video

Snoop Dogg just added another “first” to his growing list of Web3 projects. This time, the Cali-born rapper and producer unveiled the world’s first professional music video filmed in the metaverse.

Released April 1, Snoop Dogg’s video for the BODR track “House I Built” was filmed in The Sandbox metaverse. Most of the footage in this music video is from the “Snoopverse” section of The Sandbox. However, you could also see the literal Snoop Dogg playing Animoca Brands’ signature game. The production team used in-game production tools such as VoxEdit and Game Maker to create Snoop Dogg’s latest music video.

During the “House I Built” video, viewers were also able to see many of the NFT avatars from Snoop Dogg’s 10K “Doggies” collection. DJ Steve Aoki and producer Blond:ish also collaborated on Snoop Dogg’s Sandbox music video.

Sandbox CEO Arthur Madrid said Snoop Dogg’s music video “provides a tangible example” of how musicians can use metaverse technology in their content. Madrid also said he believes more innovative metaverse-themed videos will be released soon.

“House I Built” is one of 18 songs on Snoop Dogg’s 20th studio album BODR Earlier in 2022, Snoop Dogg announced: BODR would be available as his first NFT album on the Gala Games platform. Snoop Dogg also said he would make his Death Row Records – that produced BODR — in the first NFT music studio.

Currently, the music video “House I Built” has over 2.2 million views on YouTube.

Snoop Dogg is not slowing down in his Web3 push

Snoop Dogg is one of the most active celebrities in the cryptocurrency and metaverse field. Just a few days ago, Snoop Dogg teamed up with CoinTelegraph and to release an NFT single featuring country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Speaking of, the Doggfather recently dropped his “A Journey with the Dogg” NFT collection on the exchange’s NFT market.

Recently, there have been reports that Snoop Dogg is working on yet another NFT-related project, this time on the Cardano blockchain. Cardano’s Clay Mates Collection has announced that it will be working closely with Snoop Dogg on future NFTs and metaverse experiences.

In addition to building on Web3 platforms, Snoop Dogg is an avid NFT collector. Last year, Snoop Dogg revealed that he is behind the famous NFT Twitter account @cozomomedici. Some estimates suggest Snoop Dogg has over $17 million in valuable NFTs. Just a few projects that Snoop Dogg has in his NFT collection include CryptoPunks, the Bored Ape Yacht Club, and Art Blocks.

Under his moniker ‘Cozomo de’ Medici’, Snoop Dogg recently teamed up with fellow NFT enthusiast Sia to raise money for Ukrainian artists. As Rarity Sniper recently reported, Australian singer Sia is behind the NFT Twitter profile ‘Bianca ‘de Medici’.
