Siempre Tequila “rents” Bored Ape #5132 as his “Spokesape”

Mexican tequila company Siempre Tequila acquired the right to use Bored Ape #5132 as its global brand ambassador. Nicknamed “Chido”, Bored Ape #5132 already has his own Twitter account, and Siempre Tequila claims that Chido is the “unofficial mixologist” at the Bored Ape Yacht Club.

Interestingly, Siempre Tequila didn’t buy his new NFT outright. According to an official press release, Siempre Tequila has entered into a licensing agreement with Monarch Studios. While Siempre Tequila can use Bored Ape #5132 in their promotions, Monarch Studio still has full IP rights.

Siempre Tequila has already started building a backstory for its pink fur Bored Ape. Chido recently tweeted that he’s just a “small town monkey from Mexico”, and he still can’t believe he’s causing such a stir on websites like HYPEBEAST

While Siempre Tequila has a strict “No Celebrities Allowed” policy, it found Chido to be an exception to its rule. Siempre Tequila believes that the origin of the BAYC at the base fits the history of the brand. Siempre’s co-founder Alex Lacroix also said he sees many “parallels” between Chido’s expression and the “traits that Siempre embodies”.

Speaking of traits, Bored Ape #5132 has just four traits, which are found in 2.54 percent of the BAYC. Chido’s rarest quality is his smoking pipe. Only 132 Bored Apes have one of these pipes dangling from their lips. Overall, Rarity Sniper gives Chido a high Rarity Ranking of 401 from the 10K BAYC collection.

Tequila fans should expect to see more of Chido at upcoming events. The Siempre co-founders said they are already thinking about new merchandise or pop-up bars with Chido. It’s also likely that Chido will make an appearance at the IAADFS Duty-Free Show of the Americas in Florida in April.

Folks already in the BAYC might be getting some Siempre swag soon courtesy of Chido. According to an “interview” with The Bored Ape GazetteChido hinted that Siempre is working on virtual and IRL drops. It’s also possible that Chido will reveal some BAYC-themed cocktail recipes and appear in TV ads.

More Bored Apes Become Brand Ambassadors

Many companies such as Siempre Tequila have started to capitalize on BAYC’s popularity by using these NFTs in advertising campaigns and logos. Whether companies lease the rights to a Bored Ape or buy them directly, it is becoming more common to attach Bored Apes to companies.

Most notably, Universal Music recently purchased Bored Ape #5537 to serve as the face of NFT group KINGSHIP. Like “Chido”, Universal renamed its Bored Ape (“Noët All”) and gave her an official “job” as manager of KINGSHIP.

A company called “Bored Ape Wine Co.” now puts Bored Apes #1839, #9904 and #3452 on his wine bottles. E11EVEN also uses his Bored Ape #11 to attract more customers to his Miami nightclub. There’s even a SoCal burger restaurant called “Bored & Hungry” that uses Bored Ape #6184 as its mascot.

While there’s no telling where the Bored Apes will show up next, we’ll likely see more of them sponsor brands in the years to come.
