Shiba Inu’s Metaverse Will Have Over 100,000 Land NFTs

Developers behind the hot meme coin Shiba Inu say their upcoming metaverse will feature 100,595 land plots. While not all of these lots will be available for purchase, the Shiba Inu team says it has begun unlocking public NFTs.

Interestingly, Shiba Inu chose to use Ethereum instead of its original SHIB token to buy land in “SHIB: The Metaverse”. According to an official blog post, Shiba Inu wanted to use a more “neutral currency” that could be easily converted into stable coins.

The SHIB team feared that using its own tokens would cause a significant drop in price when they transfer the profits from their NFT sales to USD pegged coins. Shiba Inu’s team says it will use all proceeds from this land sale to build its metaverse.

For starters, 36,431 lots will be listed for sale in “SHIB: The Metaverse.” These land NFTs can be in one of the following metaverse regions:

  • Technology District
  • Defense District
  • Growth District
  • Currency District

Shiba Inu went on to list the rarity rankings and prizes for each of his land NFTs. As with games like Decentraland, the location of each NFT country plays a big part in determining its value.

Aside from 4,307 private “Hubs”, here’s how Shiba Inu organizes its country categories:

  • Diamond Teeth: 2,024 packs for 1 ETH . each
  • Platinum Paw: 5,714 packs for 0.5 ETH . each
  • Gold Tail: 7,356 packs for 0.3 ETH . each
  • Silver Fur: 17,030 packs for 0.2 ETH . each

While players will not be able to use SHIB, LEASH or BONE tokens to buy land NFTs, Shiba Inu says these cryptos will play a central role in its metaverse. Those who have official Shiboshi NFTs also get exclusive benefits in the SHIB ecosystem.

For example, Shiba Inu says it took a snapshot in February of everyone who owned at least one Shiboshi NFT. 2,000 Shiboshi holders got VIP access to land NFT sales in “SHIB: The Metaverse.”

The official domain name for SHIB’s upcoming metaverse is ‘’. People who want to participate in the first phase of NFT land sale must lock in a minimum of 0.2 LEASH or one Shiboshi NFT for 45 days.

Does Dogecoin have metaverse plans?

It does not appear that SHIB’s metaverse plans have stimulated new developments in the Dogecoin ecosystem. When the news broke about “SHIB: The Metaverse,” Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus criticized the Shiba Inu team. On his Twitter account, Markus said that creating a “random metaverse and selling fake land” will not add “usefulness” to the SHIB token.

While the Dogecoin team doesn’t seem to have any metaverse ambitions, it remains the “top dog” for meme tokens. More companies have also indicated that they feel comfortable accepting Dogecoin or Shiba Inu for payment.

For example, AMC Theaters now accepts both meme tokens via BitPay. A few other companies that accept Dogecoin or Shiba Inu include:
