China’s Saga with Crypto and NFTs
China’s dealings with NFTs and Crypto have undoubtedly been up and down. They haven’t been able to ban them for a long time now. Earlier, in September 2021, the Chinese state banned Crypto. Their rationale was once to “curtail financial crime and prevent economic instability”, and make all Crypto transactions illegal.
Later, China introduced its personal BSN-DDC. This is mainly China’s personal blockchain technology. This implies that the Chinese state is able to take care of the Crypto within the nation. Only if their programs are used and followed.
Now, Chinese social media platform WeChat has just started banning accounts it believes are selling NFTs. During the scenario, the platform said it had “recently standardized and corrected public accounts and minor programs for speculation and secondary sales of digital collections”.
